This Illumination L'Allumage de Chanouka is a unique production by the Artist Chaïm of which we have the honor to have the exclusivity.
Painted on vegetable parchment using natural pigments and gold powder, this illumination represents the lighting of vials during the Hanukkah Festival.
To understand the realization of this work, I propose to you to take note of the various stages for the execution of an illumination:
Once the parchment is ready to use, the highlighter uses graphite powder to create a stippled outline. The dotted lines are sketched, and the sketch is traced in ink. Once the drawing is finished, he places the gold dust and then lays down the paint.
Lastly, the illuminator encircles the painted areas with a contour line for more clarity. Some details can be brought in with white to bring out the colors.
