The name BABA SALÉ was given to him by the inhabitants of his city Tefilalet, and which means: "dad prays". Rabbi Israel Abouhatsira, his real name, was an important leader of North African Judaism and, more particularly, of Moroccan Judaism.
BABA SALÉ's particular qualities and strengths were already revealed at the age of 6, his father recommended that he only say blessings because every word he uttered was fulfilled. Many came to visit him and ask for his blessing.
Very quickly spread the news of the accomplishment of miracles at the request of pilgrims who received his blessing: sterile women became fertile, the sick were cured, others found a spouse, etc...
